Miro

It is fun to think and talk about surrealism with kids...they probably hear the expression "that was SO SURREAL..." all the time, but do not get the chance to think about what that really means.
We looked at Joan Miro work and copied his "visual vocabulary" and them made some of our own motifs in his style. The kids loved this. We used pencil, sharpie, and liquid water colors.

Matzoh Butterflies

Matzoh is sort of like a blank canvas...it has endless possibilities for projects!
This lesson , we looked at the life cycle of a butterfly and that inspired us to make our own butterflies
with green cream cheese, wafer cookies, fruit leather and MATZOH!

color value with green

We enjoyed using paint to explore all the different GREENS in the world. First they traced shapes that intersected and made more shapes, then they put a different green in each shape. Some had 45 different shades of green!
